Hi, and thank you for visiting my blog. I’m Caroline and ‘Crazy Kind of Life’ is my baby!
I live in Cambridge, England, with Neil, our two wonderful grown up sons, Joshua and Kaylan, our beautiful Alsatian, Miya and Florence our schizo cat.
I moved to Cambridge with my family when I was 16 and within weeks I had been enrolled to study at Hills Road Sixth Form College where I met Neil. It wasn’t quite love at first sight, as I still had David firmly on my mind, but I had to be realistic!
I studied art, photography and graphic design but opted to pursue graphics as a career. It’s amazing the difference a decade makes! We used Letraset, burnishers, bromides and photocopiers (even the spellchecker doesn’t recognise the names!!), now it’s all about computers and software along with our new global address ‘www’. Who would have thought!
It’s without doubt that I often hunger for new adventures, so after many years partnering a successful design business, I branched out and set up a publishing company producing greeting cards which were exported worldwide. Music has always been part of my life. I have been involved in several music bands, written and recorded my own songs and in the late 90s Virgin offered me a recording contract, but that’s another story!
All my plans changed, however, when I realised I was expecting our first son. To this day it astounds me the power of the human mind and the ability to change. I was a hard working career woman, determined to succeed. A great advocate for equality and a staunch believer in choice! When I married I kept my maiden name – it was the principle of the matter! However, over night it was Jekyll and Hyde, mum was the word. Within weeks dark suits, meetings, deadlines and the pressures of “wanted yesterday” changed to comfy tracks, writing poetry, children’s stories and studying for a diploma in journalism.
I took up running in the late 90s, before it became cool to do so, but to begin I only managed a slow 10-minute jog around the block. Now I run full and half marathons. I’m not a social runner. I run for my own sanity and need my own undiluted thoughts.
In 2003, I returned to my love of art and painting. Today I still partner our well-established graphic design business, Cambridge Design Consultants with Neil. We have been trading now for over 25 years; a marriage made in heaven. But I mostly devote my time to painting and writing in my little studio at the bottom of the garden. It’s a haven away from the crazy world that we live in!
I do hope you enjoy reading my blog.
